In March of 1999, a friend asked me if I had any idea what sort of car looked like a GT40 but was built on a VW chassis. I said I might and asked why he was asking. He told me that in a small local junkyard, he saw one under a pick-up bed liner. So off I went to what I was pretty sure was an Avenger. It was, and after a bit of haggle, my uncle and I dragged this late model 3 piece car out from under the bed liner and ten plus years of branches and pine needles. Over the past 3 years my dad and I have rebuilt the car. Gone is that little 1300 VW and original transaxle. I have replaced it with a Supercharged Mazda 13b Rotary and a Pro-Street Transaxle. I have also replaced the molded upholstery and paint. She remains my work in progress that keeps me from winding up on the evening news. |
| Note: Rick Sold the car on eBay in Jun
of 2005.
