This one came to my attention in an unusual way. I was reading emails one day and this one email was obviously not intended for me, but it was Avenger - Valkyrie related. I could tell who the letter was meant for and forwarded the e-mail onward. One line in the e-mail really got my attention: "I am the guy who spent way too much and have the car that is way too fast." Now, being the inquisitive type I had to know what a car that cost way too much and went way too fast looks like, I didn't even know such a thing was possible. I e-mailed Jeff. A month later, some e-mails appeared in the Inbox with picture attachments. A little more prodding and I got some specifics on the car as well. Enjoy, Terry

Above: This was the first glimpse I got of this awesome car, the caption read "165 M.P.H. at Thunder Hill Raceway - Ran out of room!"
I began to suspect that this wasn't powered by a VW engine!
| Jeff says: "The car started out as a 69 Valkyrie t-top, I was so happy to buy something that looked like a GT-40 I flew to New Jersey from Ca. and bough the biggest piece of #hit!! and paid way too much for it. When will I ever learn? Any way when I got it home I realized the frame was bent, the suspension was old rusted Corsair and I had a Chevy 350 with Hillborn injection that was so rusted and built so crappy , I than decided to rip it to pieces. To make a long story short I wanted to build a track car that would blow away all the Cobras and Shelbys.( I used to road race a Shelby GT-350 what a great car )." |
![]() Luke, I am your father! |
"I built a frame rack and designed and built my own tube frame and all my suspension, and used a 400 cu in.aluminum small block Chevrolet motor built with 720 Hp on the dyno. I am using an R.B.T ZF transaxle with custom half shafts and CV joints. The wheels are made by P.S. engineering .The rear rims are 17" x13" and the fronts are 17"x10" The car was a lot of fun to build but I would never do it again !!! It took seven years to build and a lot of bucks, I am now at the point I am driving it on the track, still needs paint, .The car handles incredibly and is extremely fast, smokes the tires at over 100 m.p.h."

Oh, I almost forgot, I was ready to drive on the track for the first time and
realized I could not sit in the car with a helmet on Whoops! I went to the junk yard and
bought two Mitsubishi Eclipse hoods with the turbo bumps and used them as templates to

make a mold for a new top. It came out pretty good, it gave me about an 1 1/4 inches more head room. The car was also widened in the rear and is 80" wide.
And so we come to the end of our story of yet another fine example of a handcrafted automobile. Thanks Jeff, for sharing it with us, be sure to send us more pictures after the paint job.

Part II The Sequel
Reading my e-mail again and discovered one with no text, just some picture attachments. The car in the pictures looked vaguely familiar, so I put them here.
