Membership? What am I signing up for?
We do not have membership as such. There is nothing you have to join. I think of 'members' as those who participate in this site, those who contribute in someway to making it better. If you have submitted an article, you are a participant. If you have submitted pictures which we have used here, you are also. If you participate in our discussion area, have taken out an advertisement, donated some thing material or intelectual to the betterment of this site.
I appreciate even those who just come to visit or look the site over, laving no trace of their presense. I wanted however, to offer something special to those who haved helped to make this a better website. I cannot offer much.
Here is the deal. If you have done any of the following:
submitted pictures which are in our gallery
submitted an article which appears here
have over 5 meaningful posts in our forums
are a sponsor
offered a product or service of sufficient value to our readership that I have mentioned it on this site
have contributed anything of material value (cash, car parts I needed, etc, lol)
and perhaps other things which I haven't thought of yet
You would probably qualify for this recognition.
What do you get for this? Not much.
I can offer you an e-mail service. "But I already have e-mail, you say"! What I am offering you is an e-mail address, that is yourname @ avenger-valkyrie.org. "Yes, but why would I need that?", you say!. To which I reply: "Well, you can use it to hand out to contacts you meet here or elsewhere, without giving them your real e-mail address. Yet, if they send it to yourname @ avenger-valkyrie.org, it will arrive at your regular e-mail address, the one you did not give them. "What is the benefit of that?", you ask! Simple, you do not get more spam from people you are unsure of. If it does manage to get on some spam mailing list, we can discontinue that address and bounce the mail back, without disrupting your regular mail. We can then set up a new on for you: yourothername @ avenger-valkyrie.org . That is known as a redirect. It happens automatically at the server, and we never see the mail. Alternatively, we can give you a regular e-mail account here, where you access it from a web browser, send an receive mail like you would on a hotmail account, yahoo mail etc. I would limit your storage space to 2 megabytes, since people tend to ignore these types of accounts and let them gather too much mail, taking up space on the server.
Another thing I can offer you, is special discounts on some of the things that are offered for sale here. Those, will be listed at a later date.
Finally, I can offer you the priveledge of being allowed to post your own items for sale in the "For Sale" section of the Forum area. Offering items for sale will be a 'members' only function. Any item offered for sale in a different topic area the the For Sale category, will be deleted, and the poster will recieve one warning. A repeat offense, will result in that user being deactivated for a minimum of 2 weeks. A third offense will result in that user being banned.
Hopefully, I can think of other things to offer in appreciation. in the future.
