*The used ones were harvested from circuit boards which had failed in the field. They have an estimated 9200 hours of "on time" on them. In an automotive applications such as a turn signal, this should work out to about 700 million flashes. These have very short leads, so you will need to be carefull no to over-heat when soldering. The yellow ones could make decent long life flashlights, or emergency lights around the home, or maybe overhead lighting for cooking and eating while camping as the yellow light is not very attractive to insects.

To use these LEDs in 12 volt automotive circuits, I have resistors available. What you need is a 220 ohm resistor, one per LED, which is at least 1 watt. The ones I have, are 3 watts. You can buy them for 10 cents each.
